Connecticut’s largest and longest-running full-day annual conference for women the Forum will be held Thursday, September 23 in Hartford, Connecticut. During the 2009 Business Women’s Forum®, West provided an introductory workshop on Social Media, and during the 2010 BWF®, she will provide “Social Media Spaghetti: The Sequel”.

In addition to founding Real Women Do Social Media, the only social media training initiative created exclusively for women business owners, Lena L. West is xynoMedia’s Founder, CEO and Chief Strategist, an international technology expert, marketing strategist and a certified technical expert. She writes and speaks prolifically on the merits and pitfalls of social media. The 2010 Business Women's Forum (BWF®) will feature a keynote address by celebrity entertainer and businesswoman, Paula Abdul, and the full-day Forum will begin with a motivational presentation by Jill Blashack Strahan, CEO of Tastefully Simple, a $100-million plus enterprise of direct sales, easy-to-prepare foods and gifts that she began in a shed. Throughout the day, Forum participants will be invited to attend nine business development workshops under the Forum’s 2010 theme of “Refresh, Reset, Renew”. The 28th annual 2010 Business Women's Forum® will be held at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 23.

Celebrating 28 years of success in 2010, The Business Women's Forum (BWF®), is a program of the Greater Waterbury Chamber of Commerce Foundation, and led by 33 female executives dedicated to the professional and personal growth of working women. The BWF® is sponsored annually by the U.S. Small Business Administration and supported by numerous Connecticut-based companies. “During the past 27 years,” explained Lynn Ward, 2010 BFW® Director and president and CEO of the Waterbury Regional Chamber of Commerce, “the BWF® has generated in excess of $100,000 in scholarship funds for female Post University students to pursue a business education. The mission of the non-profit BWF® is our continual commitment to equality of opportunity and advancement for women in business.”

“More than 1,000 business people from across the Connecticut, New York and the New England region are anticipated to attend our annual mega-business event,” stated Ward. “Ms. West’s is one of nine workshops being held throughout the day that will feature acclaimed speakers and trainers who will educate and inspire attendees on professional and personal levels.”

All the workshops at the 2010 BFW® on September 23 will be held after Jill Blashack Strahan, one of the nation’s top women entrepreneurs and an “Inc. 500” CEO All Star, shares the three entrepreneurial success factors, and her philosophy for building a multi-million dollar business. Executive coach and organizational specialist, Hilary Pearl, founder of Pearl Associates in Greenwich, CT, (www.hpearlassociates.com), and Laura Daley of Stamford, Conn. and founding partner of Insight Learning Partners (www.insightlearningpartners.com), will present “Speak as Well as You Think: Confidence to Conviction to Action!” During the afternoon, they will lead a second workshop, “Building Relationships for Better Results”.

“Breakthrough to Abundant Success: A 5-Step Plan for Your Greatest Life and Career” will be presented by Kathy Caprino, M.A., author and women’s empowerment and career success coach, and founder/president of Ellia Communications in Wilton, Connecticut, (www.elliacommunications.com). The workshop will be based on Caprino’s key findings from her groundbreaking national research and book for women Breakdown, Breakthrough, and her five-step model for creating success and fulfillment, with specific strategies and approaches.

The “Winning Strategies for Women Leaders” workshop will be led by leadership coaches, Adrienne Milics, Lyne Desormeaux and Barbara Healy. The panel will focus on exploring challenges female leaders face, finding avenues for support, decision-making, navigating the political landscape, and understanding the competition. They will demonstrate how women can leverage their strengths in these challenges, and how an organization’s top management can nurture talented women for successful leadership.

“Transition Power Tools: 5 Strategies to Help You Power Through Any Transition” will be led by career transitions coach, Marge Piccini of South Windsor, CT (www.margepiccini.com). “Involuntary transition is difficult. This workshop will provide strategies to help women clarify their values, their destination, and how to get there. The goal is to supercharge participants’ belief systems with tools to sustain empowerment and enthusiasm to create the life they want.”

Motivational speaker, Kathy McAfee (www.motivatedspeaker.com) of Hartford, CT, will present “Vocal Power and Body Language Intelligence for Women”. “Kicking and Screaming is One Way to Get There” will be a humorous, interactive workshop on practical tools for overcoming life’s obstacles to professional and personal success presented by motivational speaker and trainer, Michelle Gotay of Watertown, Conn.
