Award-winning Phuket resort Indigo Pearl is challenging photographers to illustrate their best memory or experience of the acclaimed 5-star retreat to win a prize of seven free nights.

The ‘Indigo Pearl Photo Contest’ is open for submissions until September 15. To enter, guests can simply upload an image onto Flickr and share the link on the resort’s official Facebook fan community page at www.facebook.com/indigopearlresort.  Alternatively, guests cab send the photo directly to the resort via email (contest@indigo-pearl.com – size limit 500 KB with a brief description).

The initiative is part of the property’s growing social media presence; its Facebook page serving as a virtual getaway for guests, colleagues, and Phuket enthusiasts to interactively post memorable photos or videos, participate in exclusive contests, access special resort content, and converse with other fans about their unique Indigo Pearl and Phuket travel memories

Images must be photographed onsite and “demonstrate your best Indigo Pearl memory/experience”, accompanied by a title and explanation of no more than 40 words.

The Grand Prize of seven nights at the resort in a luxury suite is for two and includes breakfast. It is valued at around US$3,600.

Indigo Pearl presents a treasure-trove of backdrops and ideas for photographers. Complemented by luxurious style, the resort evokes Phuket’s tin mining industry, incorporating unique furnishings and art pieces inspired by industrial relics.

The Tongkah Tin Syndicate is a veritable ‘Aladdin’s Cave’ of mining memorabilia – including the darts scoreboards, made from old tin production report boards, mining tools and corrugated iron sheets.

Uniforms and resort names similarly pay tribute to tin mining. The Captain Miles Suite is named after Australian Edward Thomas Miles, who sailed the first dredger to Phuket in 1909, allowing the tin mining industry to expand into untouched areas.

The concept of ‘’found industrial art” was implemented by renowned international architect and interior designer Bill Bensley, in collaboration with Australian John Underwood, a resident Phuket artist.

"We see great value in engaging in a two-way discussion with our guests and fans. We feel our social media platform is an area where fans can share their stories with us, and also with other like-minded individuals who share a common interest about Thailand, Phuket and the Indigo Pearl. Our intention is to create massive value and engage with our online community in a much more significant way." says David Ippersiel, Executive Assistant Manager, Sales & Marketing; Indigo Pearl Resort.

* The competition is open to anyone aged 18 or over except Indigo Pearl employees, travel agents or media.

Come sunset, guests can sip cocktails poolside whilst choosing which of Indigo Pearl’s eight food and beverage venues to dine at.  Choices include Thai at Black Ginger, traditional tapas served al fresco in Rebar and modern European fare at Tin Mine.

Indigo Pearl was voted “Most Stylish Hotel” by ELLE magazine, Singapore, and among the world's “TOP 50 Dream Resorts” by Honeymoon and Travel magazine.
