A majority of General Monitors Flame Detectors are now IECEx approved for hazardous monitoring in a wide range of industrial processes.  The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) established the IECEx system to certify equipment for operation in explosive atmospheres.  This system facilitates international trade while maintaining required safety levels.  IECEx certification reassures General Monitors’ customers that their flame detectors have been independently evaluated and found in compliance with international safety standards for explosive environments.

FL4000H
The Model FL4000H is an advanced multi-spectrum infrared (MSIR) flame detector designed to provide superior false alarm immunity with the widest field of view.  The FL4000H employs a multi-spectral optical IR sensing array and an artificial neural network to reliably discriminate between actual flames and false alarm sources.  The flame detector is designed to detect hydrocarbon fires such as those produced by alcohol, n-heptane, gasoline, and jet fuels and see through dense smoke.

FL3100H
The Model FL3100H is designed to detect hydrocarbon and hydrogen fires by monitoring in both the ultraviolet (UV) and infrared (IR) spectra, making it highly immune to false alarms.

FL3101H
The Model FL3101H is a UV flame detector designed to detect fires and provide alarm outputs directly from the detector while maintaining false alarm immunity.  In addition to detecting hydrocarbon flames, it is also suitable for sulfur and silane hazards.

FL3102
The Model FL3102 is an IR flame detector that detects radiation from the infrared (IR) spectral region of a flame, making it highly immune to false alarms caused by lightning, arc welding, hot objects and other sources of radiation.

All of these flame detector’s electronics are integral within their explosion-proof housings, allowing detector information to be processed at the point of detection.  The detectors also provide a 4-20 mA stepped output signal indicating detector status.  The COPM (Continuous Optical Path Monitoring) self-test feature checks the optical path integrity (window cleanliness) and the detectors' electronic circuitry once every minute.  Configurations with dual Modbus and HART are also available.  Modbus and HART data can be used for predictive maintenance.  The detectors are FM certified to IEC 61508 as SIL 3 suitable and are also approved under CSA, FM, and ATEX norms.
