Aug. 29, 2010 - PRLog -- The Rhum field is located in the United Kingdom Continental Shelf of the North Sea. It is an offshore gas condensate field that covers a total area of 25 sq km. Rhum is located about 390km north east of Aberdeen and about 44km north of the Bruce field. The Rhum is the satellite field to the Bruce Platform. The reservoir lies at a water depth of approximately 350 feet . The geographic location of the Rhum field is 60deg 07.79' Latitude North and 01deg 44.19' East Longitude. The field lies in the block 3/29. The field produces approximately 1% of UK's daily gas consumption.

The field was awarded to BP and the Iranian Oil Company (U.K.) Limited in 1972. It was discovered in 1977. The production from the field started in December 2005. BP is the operator of the Rhum field. The other equity partner is Iranian Oil Company (U.K.) Limited.

The reservoir of the field is high temperature and high pressure. The temperature in the reservoir is 150degC and the pressure is 12,700psi. The gas is corrosive having 6.50% carbon dioxide and 10ppm hydrogen sulfide content.

The Rhum field produced 0.24 million barrels of condensate and 39,325.83 MMcf of gas in 2009. The remaining recoverable reserves are 551,381.73 MMcf of gas as on December 2009.

The field life of Rhum is expected to be around 17 years with complete abandonment during 2021. The field is expected to generate $4.19 billion in revenues (undiscounted) during its remaining life (starting January 1, 2010) and is expected to yield an IRR of around 25.89%.
