Janice Brewer Arizona Governor Covers Up Prison Death

Barrett marrow; www.bmarson@azcorrections.gov and Bill Lamoneawe; blamonea@azcorrections.gov have been releasing news releases notifying that the following inmates have died. These releases are false & death certificates misleading & wrong.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Aug 27, 2010 -
Anthony Lester #253529 died because Keith Hartsuck; Gerard Bonorand and Sandra Walker failed to make certain that Lester had no sharp instruments on him when Lester was suicidal. Upon the directives of Hartsuck; Bonorand and Walker generated false reports to cover up the death.

Dean Seawright #195344 died of puncture wounds; Robert Medina # 121433 and Geshell Fernandez #196933 died by suicide. What the press releases fail to assert is that the medical and security did not respond in a timely manner. They took their own time to respond. The press release also fails to assert that prison official could have prevented these deaths had they followed established procedures as to suicides.

Arnold Bermea #73904 supposedly died of liver complaints; Raymond Sawyer # 227858 of low oxygen saturation; Juan Reynold #230196 of sepsis and dehydration; James Kasenaw # 117870 of natural causes; Asam Fimrez #038080 of respiratory complications; Ysidro Valdez #116976 of cancer; David Miller # 240173 of chest pains according to press releases.

Medical records show that these deaths occurred because the ADOC delayed /denied providing timely medical treatment. Doctors at Maricopa Medical Center, University Medical Center, University Physicians Hospital, Mt. Vista Hospital, West Valley Hospital who pronounced these inmate deaths “were not provided the complete medical records” and were “not informed that the ADOC delayed providing the necessary medical care.”

Had these doctors been provided these records they would have pronounced that the “death was preventable” and that timely medical care would have saved these lives.”  To prevent ADOC medical staff, Keith Hartsuck, Gerard Bonorand, Sandra Walker and others from being prosecuted for “negligent homicide” and to “prevent lawsuits by these inmates' families for wrongful death,” these material records and facts were not disclosed.

The Justice Department should investigate the rise of inmate deaths in Arizona Prisons. Governor Janice Brewers has through the prison Director, Charles Ryan, covered up these deaths.
