2) The people in Egypt are warm and friendly, but somewhat conservative in their dress, so to avoid unwanted attention it is best to dress conservatively around the main cities like Cairo, Luxor and Aswan and save the tank tops and short shorts for the Red Sea resorts like Sharm and Hurghada.
3) It is important to ensure you drink only bottled or filtered water and to check that this is being provided, if you are not sure then take bottled water around with you and insist that any drinks are made with your water. Better to be safe that to spoil your trip with King Tut’s revenge.
4) It is advisable to change your currency on arrival in Egypt and have some small Egyptian pounds ready for tipping etc. US dollars are also accepted everywhere. Tipping is expected, which can be a bit of hassle, so be prepared.
5) Hotel standards may not be what you are used to in the West so we do suggest staying with a minimum of 3 star, and 4/5 star at least in Cairo.
