HEBER CITY, Utah. – In preparation for emergencies and in reaction to rising food prices and a slowly recovering economy, many consumers are stocking up on their own food supplies to increase independency during hard times. The Emergency Preparedness Center, online retailer of emergency supplies and food, anticipates this need and answers it with its unique Provident Provisions line of dehydrated foods.

“More and more people are beginning to recognize the importance of food storage,” said Mike Petersen, sales representative for The Emergency Preparedness Center. “Food storage is a fall-back plan that has little risk involved. Individuals never lose out on the money invested because they can use it for regular meals if they do not use it for an emergency.”

In addition to providing dehydrated food and other pre-made varieties, The Emergency Preparedness Center also stocks canned garden seeds that consumers can save for a future date.

“In an emergency, you want your food storage to keep you independent. You want to be confident that you do not have to rely on anyone,” said Petersen. “Nothing is ever certain, but if you are prepared ahead of time, then you have a much better chance of handling the situation properly.”

For those to whom the idea of freeze dried food does not appeal, the center also offers small kitchen appliances to help with baking, canning, dehydrating, mixing, juicing and more. The Emergency Preparedness Center noted that in many instances, canned food retains more of a product’s nutrients than frozen or even fresh produce found at a grocery store.

“We have the resources to help educate people on the proper requirements for food storage,” said Petersen. “Emergency food storage can be confusing; we simplify it. You never know when a disaster will strike.”
