Phoenix-based Big Green Zero is increasing their commitment to the deployment of fuel cell energy by partnering with the EPA Combined Heat and Power Partnership.
Combined heat and power (CHP) involves simultaneous production of electricity and heat from a single fuel source. In commercial and industrial environments fuel cell or other CHP technology may decrease energy costs by 50% or more. In addition, these technologies frequently produce an attractive financial return on investment.
The United States Environmental Protection Agency CHP Partnership seeks to reduce the environmental impact of power generation by promoting the use of combined heat and power energy generation. The Partnership works closely with energy users, the CHP industry, state and local governments, and other clean energy stakeholders to facilitate the development of new projects and to promote their environmental and economic benefits.
The Certificate of Partnership presented to Big Green Zero recognizes their efforts to improve the environmental performance of power generation in the United States by supporting combined heat and power.
Within hours of receiving the certificate, Big Green Zero applied the Partnership feasibility model to two client projects (one, a large home owner's association and the other an industrial plant). In both cases, early indications are that fuel cells and other CHP technology may produce energy cost savings of 50% or more.
There seems to be little doubt that, in many commercial and industrial applications, fuel cell energy (http://biggreenzero.com/
