Aug. 26, 2010 - PRLog -- Kamloops BC, August 26, 2010 – Ask a soldier about boot camp and you’re likely to get a pained expression and a few agonizing groans.

While the Kamloops Yoga Fitness Boot Camp for Women may not be the same exhausting experience as the one done by Marines, it strives to achieve similar results: a workout for your mind and body.  But unlike the Marine boot camp, the Kamloops Yoga Fitness Boot Camp for Women is actually fun.

The Kamloops Fitness Boot Camp for Women is located in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada, approximately four hours northeast of the city of Vancouver, and provides yoga enthusiasts, both veterans and beginners, an empowering yoga experience that includes nutritional lessons and yoga sessions set amid the peaceful and serene backdrop of the mountains.

Led by veteran yoga instructor Katrina Ariel, the Kamloops Yoga Fitness Boot Camp for Women features a collection of exercises and activities that you probably won’t find in any other yoga class.  Participants in the Kamloops yoga camp have the option of joining in a full yoga class, a morning sunrise meditation session, an exhilarating hike through the country-side, a wildly fun costume day and a nutritional class that includes healthy eating tips that will last a lifetime.

The studio also features optional massages, infrared saunas and free shower facilities.

"These fantastically fun and super challenging fun boot camps," Ariel explained, "include a wide variety of targeted, effective workouts that combine exercise and yoga." "In addition, the comradery of the women in the camp is amazing."

Like its military cousin, the Kamloops Yoga Fitness Boot Camp for Women starts early – from 5:45 to 6:45 a.  While that early morning start might seem daunting to a few people, many of the past camp participants say that it is actually a great help to getting in the proper frame of mind.

"It's definitely early," one former Kamloops participant said.  "I didn't really like the idea of getting up that early when I first heard about it.  But when I actually came to the camp, I loved it.  Because when you're done at 6;45, you come away with a major sense of accomplishment.  You've already done one of the best things you can do for your health before some people have even gotten out of bed."

“Your body gets accustomed to working out early,” another past participant observed, “and it’s excellent for your metabolism.  Plus, it’s amazing how much more you get done because you’re up and invigorated that early."

Ariel admits that while the Kamloops Yoga Fitness Boot Camp for Women might seem like hard work to some, it won't be what you expect from a "boot camp".  "You'll work hard," she said, "maybe harder than you've worked before in an hour. But believe it or not, you'll love the challenge."  It might be a little intimidating of an idea, Ariel said, but participants can rest assured you will not be degraded, yelled at, or belittled at any point in this boot camp.

“In fact, the whole idea of the Yoga Fitness Boot Camp For Women is to empower you,” Ariel continued, “strengthening your sense of self-worth at the same time your body becomes leaner and stronger.

Participants can choose to sign up for a 15 or 19-day program that meets Monday through Friday and they can select to join the camp three or five days per week within each of the programs.

The next boot camp session is a 19-day program that runs from Tuesday, September 7 to Friday, October 1.

Registration information is available at www.yogawithkatrina.com.  Camp officials note that the past two camps have sold out early.

"Yoga," Ariel said, "can be challenging and totally empowering at the same time.  Even though I don’t bring quite as much philosophy or yogic technique into the boot camp that I do in my yoga classes, it’s still there and you’ll still feel more uplifted and satisfied from the relevant, inspiring themes and mindful alignment.  Your body will thank you for stretching every time you ask it to work hard."

Katrina Ariel teaches a variety of yoga classes at Let’s Move Yoga Studio in Kamloops as well  as well as offering private yoga therapy sessions and yoga workshops.
