Skyraider Aviation continues to expand its fleet of Light Sport Aircraft at Denver's Centennial Airport. With the addition of the new PiperSport , Skyraider Aviation now offers its customers a choice of three airplanes equipped with either standard analog gauges, or a modern "glass panel". The PiperSport offers features previously found only in technologically advanced aircraft including auto-pilot, moving-map GPS, and NEXRAD satellite weather radar.
Piper Aircraft, Inc of Vero Beach, Florida introduced the PiperSport earlier this year. The aircraft is being produced in the Czech Republic under a licensing agreement with Czech Sport Aircraft. Formerly known as the Czech Aircraft Works SportCruiser, the aircraft is gaining greater notoriety under the Piper brand. Skyraider Aviation is the first flying club in Colorado to offer the PiperSport to its students and pilots.
Skyraider Aviation, established in 2006 at the Erie Municipal Airport north of Denver is the first flight school in Colorado to offer training specifically for the revolutionary new Sport Pilot license. Created in September 2004, the Sport Pilot license is meant to make the dream of flight accessible to the masses. By reducing the training requirements and adding some restrictions, the Sport Pilot program makes it possible to earn a pilots license in as few as 20 flight hours and for as little as $4,000. An additional benefit of the Sport Pilot license is that it does not require an FAA medical exam, opening the door to pilots who could otherwise be medically disqualified from flying. The many advantages of the Sport Pilot/Light Sport Aircraft program, have made it the fastest growing segment of general aviation.
