Camping or Glamping - this is the question hitting the UK

Is it for the rich who would like to be under canvas, but would prefer all the luxuries from home.

Q: What is the definition of Glamping?
A: It is a form of camping in which participants enjoy physical comforts, associated with more luxurious types of holiday. (World English Dictionary)

There are many new sites now offering this.
I believe that Glamping can come in many forms, from Camping Pods which are wooden, circular-structured Huts which house beds and some modern extras like heating, microwave, a static gas hobb and fridge/freezer.

Maybe the Tipi, Yurt or Bell Tent experience excites you more.

It reminds me of the Eskimos or Red Indians with skins and handmade rugs scattered around their warm and cosy huts, with a log fire burning in the centre.

These days they are far more conservative, with everything that you could possibly need for a luxury holiday, spacious and warm, with all the modern facilities of home.

Many Glamping sites are Eco-Friendly which is great, but you will find that most camping and touring parks are offering these facilities too.

The tents that are on offer these days, can offer you luxury and space.

I have camped on many camping sites and parks that have the large, Vango tents, that protect you entirely from the elements by having sewn-in groundsheets - many compartmented for your daily needs like cooking, toilet and sleeping etc. They also offer a large living area and some are as big as my living room at home!

So is Glamping the new era or is it just a new word? Camping can be more affordable, but the thought of packing and unpacking can be quite daunting.

At least with Glamping you arrive with basics, all luxuries are on site with no packing away - you just leave when the wonderful holiday is over.
