Follow on Google News | Revolver PR to host free Dundee Workshop For Start UpsA free workshop for videogames and interactive developers who wish to set up their own independent studios, is taking place in the Scottish Enterprise Dundee offices at 12pm on Tuesday August 31st.
By: Revolver PR In association with Interactive Tayside, Digital PR company Revolver has assembled some of the country's leading experts across every area to advise and encourage a new generation of videogames developers in Scotland. Aimed at developers who were recently made redundant, as well as existing start-ups, the workshop offers advice on creating a studio, funding for games, marketing and pr, protecting your IP and taking a game to market. Speakers will provide information on their own area of expertise, before taking questions from the audience and then holding breakout sessions for those interested in more in-depth information. Brian Baglow, Revolver's head of interactive entertainment, says, “The most exciting and innovative areas in the games market are those in the independent areas, where smaller companies are targeting new platforms and digital distribution channels. However starting a new company can be daunting, so we've lined up a wide range of experts, who can provide insight into all the areas a new studio will face, from the very basic business essentials, through to publishing your first game and making sure people know about it.” Dr Richard Wilson, chief executive officer of TIGA, agrees. “The recent redundancies have been a huge blow to the interactive sector in the UK. However there is a huge amount of talent and experience around Dundee and we'd like as much of it as possible to stay in the country create their own studios.
