Eve's Burden release their first album

"Eve's Burden" is a fairly new group from California. Their first cd "The Black Letter" is an impressive rock driven 17 song disc.

Aug. 24, 2010 - PRLog -- This album is fuelled by two things: firstly, an incredibly powerful vocal performance
highlighted by the astounding vocal range of Sharon Jordan, with a vocal quality like a favourable combination of , Ann Wilson, Kelly Clarkson, Janis Joplin and Melissa Etheridge, and secondly, the awesome guitar licks throughout the album crafted by producer/guitarist, Jerry Leal. There is something delightfully '80s about the overall sound, with keyboard, bass, and drums rounding out the backing instrumentation and creating a solid and full rock sound. At first Eve’s Burden comes off like a vehicle for the band’s vocalist, Sharon Jordan. Jordan sure doesn't sing like a white girl, however, and that’s a wonderful thing. Instead, this diva – and yes, she’s earned that queenly title – belts it out like a gospel choir soloist on all of these mostly-funky tunes.Upon deeper listening however the unique uplifting feel of their songs begins to shine through. The songs are quite lyrical, melodic, and catchy, with introspective and sociological lyrics. I caught up with the group's producer, Jerry Leal and asked him to comment about the philosophy of their songs, here is what he had to say...
"Nowadays we are bombarded with negative messages in music, themes of hatred, revenge, infidelity, failure, sadness, and the like
if it was a burger i wouldn't feed it to my dog...in producing this record we decided to weave positive themes into the music,
themes such as forgiveness, love, overcoming, letting go, redemption... basically just the opposite.
There have been countless studies done regarding the effects of music on plants and animals
where "happy/joyous" music is shown to have a health promoting effect
and the reverse is true of harsh or negative sounding music"

"The Black Letter" is well-produced and ready for extensive radio play. My favourite cuts are the opener, an acoustic rock track called, "Love Keeps Me Hanging On"... "Candy Girl" is filled with catchy lyrics, nice guitar work, and hand claps to boot... "The Fame Game" is a song about the life of a breakthrough musician that features memorable lyrics, a catchy chorus, a harmonica, and more great guitar work... "Euphoria" a '70s rock inspired guitar riff and a stellar vocal "The Black Letter" is a solid debut album from an up-and-coming group that you'll be sure to hear much more about in the near future.
