Aug. 24, 2010 - PRLog -- Vancouver, BC...This week Vancouver’s favourite Thai eatery, Thai Away Home, launches a brand new product – one that combines their commitment to offering delicious, authentic Thai food at great prices with their commitment to making environmentally-responsible choices in  products and packaging: refreshing all-natural sweet Iced Teas in completely compostable cups.

The new Iced Teas, available in Lemon Green Tea, Passionfruit, Lychee, and Mango flavours, are made fresh in-house with steeped black and green tea, all-natural fruit puree and fresh squeezed lemons, sugar and water – nothing artificial and everything delicious!

And the cups are made from corn. Thai Away has decided to take ‘all-natural’ one step further, and will serve the Iced Teas in take-away cups (with lids and straws) made from US-grown corn (a product called Ingeo™)  – so they’re 100% renewable and certified compostable by the Biodegradable Products Institute  (BPI). These cups require less energy to produce than conventional take-away products and are compatible with zero-waste programs. Best of all, they give restaurants like Thai Away an opportunity to divert waste from landfills and to create valuable compost that everyone can use.

Sustainability has been part of Thai Away’s mission from the very beginning. (Alongside their promise to “provide healthy authentic Thai cuisine and fast friendly service” they’ve always promised to be environmentally responsible in the policies and products they choose.) This week they continue to make good on their word.

Says Thai Away Group of Companies owner, Dale Dubberley: “No matter what, you only have so much time in the restaurant business, so you have to do what you can during that time to help improve the community, the planet, the world. We want to lead by example – make good, sustainable choices that our customers will love and that other restaurants will see as a trend they want to follow.”

For over twelve years, Thai Away Home has been using natural ingredients to cook authentic Thai cuisine for their customers. Today, locations in Vancouver’s West End (Davie Street at Bute Street) and Vancouver’s west side (Cambie Street at 16th) offer sumptuous curries, satay with peanut sauce, aromatic herb soups, spicy salads and decadent desserts to eat-in or take-home.  More, their famous Thai sauces and curries are now available in easy, heat-and-serve Meals-in-Minutes™ (at all fine Vancouver-area grocery stores).
