Follow on Google News | Sept. 11: The Atrium at The Allendale Community for Mature Living to Host Annual Senior Health FairScreenings and Free Health Information for Older Adults Available to Public
By: Christine Ziomek "Each year we host this much anticipated and well-attended event to provide area seniors and their family members with easy access to local resources, in one convenient location," said Mary Stampleman, ADC, Director of Therapeutic Recreation & Community Relations. "This year, we are marking Patriot Day by remembering and honoring the men and women of all ages who have sacrificed for our country." The health fair features a wide range of free wellness and health education sessions and information. Attendees will receive free gifts and an opportunity to win door prizes. In addition, diagnostic evaluations and screenings also will be performed by local medical professionals and physicians. Pianist Donna Stalker will perform in the lobby while the following free break-out sessions are held in the The Atrium Cinema at the designated times: * 1 p.m. - "Zumba Gold Senior Chair Aerobics" will be led by Brooklyn Weight * 1:30 p.m. - "The Dangers of Second-Hand Smoke" as well the benefits associated with quitting smoking at any age will be highlighted by Al Ferrara, Jr. of the Bergen County Department of Health Services * 3 p.m. - Petty Officer Jim Cava, U.S. Navy (Retired) and founder of Operation Red, White & Blue, will perform a Patriotic Program Among the free screenings being offered are a cervical spine evaluation performed by Pinelli Chiropractic Center; oral health screening provided by Stephen Beukas, D.M.D., of the N.J. Mobile Dental Practice; hearing assessments from Anita Avallone of Total Hearing Care; a foot screening performed by Howard Kliman, D.P.M.; hand and foot massages courtesy of The Fountain Spa; chair massage therapy compliments of Jaime Bachrach, C.M.T.; and blood pressure screenings with a nurse from The Allendale Community. Information regarding the senior living campus, which includes an assisted living residence and a skilled nursing/subacute care facility, as well as its Senior Social Club and Respite Programs will also be available. In addition, Life Line Screening Radiology, LLC will be conducting tests that screen for strokes/carotid artery blockages; heart rhythm irregularities; Health and wellness exhibitors include the Bergen County Department of Health Services Information; The Allendale Community for Mature Living is located at 85 Harreton Rd., just off Route 17 South, in Allendale, N.J.
