29th Annual New York State Festival of Balloons– New York – Entrance Fee $5.00 per person
Featuring Hot air balloon rides, arts and crafts, vintage snowmobile show, food courts, car show on live entertainment. The festivities begin at 7:00 pm with a balloon display. On Friday at 6:00 pm, you will have your first peek at the huge variety of balloons at the festival as, over 50 hot air balloons set sail. Concerts and daily activities for the kids continue through Labor Day.
53rd Annual Mackinaw Bridge Walk – Michigan – Free
Beginning the walk, Michigan’s governor will open the bridge walk early Labor Day. Those wishing to walk the Mackinac Bridge can do so for free until 11 am. A unique experience, over 50,000 people will walk the 5 mile span from Michigan’s Lower to Upper Peninsula. This is the only time people are allowed to walk on the bridge each year. Festivities in the Mackinac area last all weekend in Mackinac City as well as St. Ignace and Mackinac Island.
32nd Annual Chicago Jazz Festival – Illinois – Free
Chicago’s longest running lakefront music festival, the festival promotes awareness and appreciation for all forms of Jazz through musical performances. Festival locations include the Chicago Cultural Center, Millennium Park and Grant Park. This year’s performers include: Artist-in-Residence:
3rd Annual Planet Arlington World Music Festival –Arlington VA – Free
Music, art, exhibits, film and speaker fill the weekend focusing on the art and music of other world cultures. Saturday August 30, 2010. Featuring music from Congo, Lebanon, China, and Ireland as well as others. Family friendly performances are offered in the evening as well as hands on activities for the family.
