So Your Dog has a Dermatologist

Carolyn Jochman, DVM, of Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals, discusses how veterinary medicine has advanced to offer multiple specialties.

Aug. 24, 2010 - PRLog -- A dog today may see an internist, a surgeon and an oncologist. "Veterinary medicine has advanced just as human medicine has," says Carolyn Jochman, DVM, of Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals, in a new podcast.

The specialization of veterinary medicine has led to tremendous advances in animal health, with pets living longer than ever before. But Dr. Jochman says the decision to treat an animal isn't always an easy one, and it can be expensive. Nevertheless, many pet owners have such a deep relationship with their animals that they will avail themselves of every medical option to help them.

Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals is open 24/7 and is located in Greenfield, Wisconsin.  Walk-In emergencies, critical care referrals and surgery referrals are accepted 24 hours a day.

Referrals from veterinarians for ultrasounds and echocardiograms are preferred between 8 a.m.-6 p.m. every day.

MECA's owner is Marla Lichtenberger, DVM, DACVECC.  Dr. Lichtenberger's Emergency Center is a welcome addition to the southern part of Milwaukee, which was in need of a state-of-the-art facility. A team of experienced veterinarians and staff provide twenty-four hour emergency service, concentrating on dogs, cats, exotics, reptiles and other small mammals.
