Nova Hits The Road To Support Castles For Crows

Aug. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- San Francisco, CA, Aug 23, 2010 – Following the release of the new single CALIFORNIA for NOVAs second release CASTLES FOR CROWS, the band is now getting ready to hit the road.

NOVA will be on a 31 date tour with some shows as Direct Support for SORE EYES and some as headliner. The tour starts August 28th in Memphis Tennessee at the Hard Rock Café and ends in Oct at Mo’s Original in Denver CO.

“We are very excited here at Rogue Records America for the band” Says label president and the bands manager Dean Martinetti…”The new release shows the band getting more diverse in their sound and we all think this tour is going to gain them a lot more support and fans”

But this is only the beginning…the band is looking to tour VERY hard for the remainder of 2010 into summer 2011 with the possibility of going overseas for the first time.

Castles for Crows is the bands second effort, recorded in just 5 months in singer Gabriel McGahee’s garage using only Garageband and a MacBook, the album was produced and mixed by band mates Aaron GoForth and Gabriel McGahee.

Aaron: We started the album started in March and took about 5 month to finish it. This was the first time Gabe and I ever fully recorded an produced a record.
We recorded it in our rehearsal space all on Garageband on a MacBook pro!  Castles has some of the same elements in the sound as Nepenthe in that the music is heavy and the vocals are compelling, what separates it from the first album I think is there is a chemistry you hear in the songwriting, there’s heart and soul. I think that’s what will grab people and keep them listening.  I’m so excited about this record!

Gabriel: There was a little learning curve figuring out how to use all the equipment and get the tones we were after, but once we did, everything fell into place, and now, in the future, we won’t have to rely on a studio to record we can just do it ourselves which is liberating in a way. We weren’t as concerned with sounding a certain way or being in a certain genre with this one. We didn’t second guess instruments we included or song lengths being too long, we kinda just did whatever sounded good to us in the moment.
Aaron and I had some differing ideas when we were sitting there working on it, maybe even butted heads a little, but ultimately I think it drove the project somewhere better and more creative. One of the things I like most about Castles is that we got Aaron singing on it too. On Nepenthe I was singing all the backups; the new stuff definitely has a different more diverse vibe to it.
