50 Miles of FUTS Summer Celebration Still Going Strong

Aug. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Flagstaff, AZ  -  Summer celebration of the Flagstaff Urban Trails System or FUTS is going strong with plenty of time to enjoy the celebration of themed walks through August.
This Summer has marked a huge success for the Flagstaff Urban Trails System, with an array of fun outdoor activities, including themed walks, weekly runs and races, the FUTS Explorer Series (25 walks in 50 days), and a chance to compete in the Walk/Ride All 50 Miles Contest. “Community support has been outstanding,” says Martin Ince, Flagstaff Metropolitan Planning Organization Multi-Modal Planner. The dedication ceremony at the Flagstaff Visitor Center on July 10, 2010 was attended by more than 100 community members with a permanent milepost that marks the spot of the 50th mile and a formal proclamation signed by Mayor Sara Presler and read by Vice Mayor Celia Barotz.
“There are not many communities like Flagstaff. I think this summer’s celebration really showed that people here want to live healthy lifestyles and care for their community at the same time,” says Ince.  When not showing their active side, many Flagstaff citizens showed their goodwill by participating in trail clean ups and donating to Saint Mary’s Food Bank in the FUTS Food Drive.
The 50 Miles of FUTS Celebration is on through August with many opportunities to celebrate including one more themed walk, four more Saturday runs, and the Walk/Ride All 50 Miles Contest. For more information visit our website at www.flagstaffaz.gov/futs.
