Aug. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- Irvine, CA, – The Irvine Chamber of Commerce (ICC) announced today that it is bringing the latest social media tools to its marketing efforts to communicate with its members.  The ICC will implement its first online digital video strategy in hosting a live digital ‘Town Hall’ meeting this Tuesday, Aug. 24 at 3 p.m. to provide members and local businesses within Irvine and Orange County information about fellow members, address issues and strategies, offer networking opportunities and to learn how other companies are using the ICC as a resource.

“We’re excited about making social media applications a part of our marketing program,” said Christopher Lynch, vice president business and economic development, ICC.  “With the increased work demands on our members, the time is right to take these town hall meetings from the traditional format to online.”

The highlights for the first social/digital town hall meeting include:

•   Irvine Mayor Sukhee Kang and Tallia Hart, president/CEO for the Irvine Chamber of Commerce, will provide opening remarks regarding Irvine as a destination for digital media companies;
•   Ru Weerasuriya, co-founder & VP creative development for ReadyAtDawn Studios, will be the featured speaker.  He will share the perfect balance of building a company with the right resources, a large talent pool and an enticing environment;
•    A live streaming broadcast will provide the audience a live question-and-answer session.  To participate in the Irvine Chamber Town Hall go to https://www.connectmeeting.att.com and enter the meeting number 888 557 8511 with the access code 3239205.

The Irvine Chamber is promoting the event using social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter, text messaging, Digital Irvine blog posts, website posting, email and good old-fashioned ‘word of mouth.’

The town hall videos will be archived on the online digital resource library site which is scheduled to go live Thursday, Aug. 26.  The purpose for the online digital resource library is to provide members and companies considering relocating to Irvine with information on the city, the resources it has to offer, the assistance the Irvine Chamber provides a company, and information from Irvine companies who have made the city their headquarters.   Also, the town hall videos will be posted on YouTube.

The Irvine Chamber of Commerce partnered with Citizen7 Studios and Maples Communications to develop the program to bring business leaders and the Irvine community who are often too busy to spend an afternoon out of the office attending a town hall meeting.  Using the power of social media provides the flexibility and convenience for viewers to watch live or at a later time that fits their schedule.

“It is our goal to be a vital resource to the members of the Irvine Chamber of Commerce,” said Lynch.  “Social media is a cost-effective way for the ICC to provide our members and surrounding community with the information that will hopefully make a difference in their business and home lives.”
