Aug. 19, 2010 - PRLog -- Jesup, GA  – Chad NeSmith, President of The Jesup Rotary Club and General Manager of NeSmith Walker Chevrolet Buick GMC announced today that District Rotary Governor, Lloyd Hordan, addressed the club at their weekly meeting held at Sybil’s Restaurant on August 12, 2010.  The club presented various literacy awards in Hordan’s honor and also inducted Rick Peel as a new member.

Rotary President Chad NeSmith said that Mr. Hordan spoke to the club about how family is important to the organization and that literacy is his vision.  Hordan, an educator, stressed how critical it is for rotary to get involved in child and adult literacy issues – from reading initiatives to helping folks get their GED.

NeSmith said, “One of our primary initiatives for the club this year is to continue to help Wayne County on the literacy front.   It was rewarding for all of us today to sponsor Ferst Foundation kids in Lloyd Hordan’s honor by providing one book each month for a year to local children.”  NeSmith also spoke about the two local students the club also named at the meeting preparing for their GED.  “The club selected two local young adults to sponsor this year in Mr. Hordan’s honor, paying their fees for taking the GED”.

The meeting was also an opportunity to welcome the newest Jesup Rotary Club member, Rick Peel.
