Aug. 19, 2010 - PRLog -- The Metropolitan area of Orlando is one for the theatre-goers: the down town area is filled with loads of companies that are focused on performing all around the town and will even team up in order to put on a show that will entice people. They do it not only for that reason, they do it for the love of the arts - another reason why they join with other companies from time to time.

The Orlando Shakespeare Theatre is a theatre group that focuses on Shakespeare’s works. This began its first season with Shakespearean productions in 1989 and since then Orlando Shakes has performed 41 main stage productions of the author's works. The John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Centre work in partnership with the University of Central Florida, and they organise a festival every year from September to May. The festival includes readings, premières and workshops.

Orlando Theatre Project is a theatre group that presents shows throughout the central Florida area, which includes Studio B and Goldman Theatre at the Lowndes Shakespeare Centre at the Lowndes Shakespeare Centre in Orlando's Loch Haven Park, and the Garden Theatre in Winter. The OTP is performing under a small professional Theatre contract with Actors' Equity Association - a union of professional actors and stage managers. It also operates an on-going professional training program that gives talented student the opportunity to work and learn with professionals that are on and off the stage. It was founded in 1985 to meet the demands of the Central Florida community.

The home of the Orlando Shakespeare Theatre is the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Centre, which hosts the Orlando Museum of Art, the Orlando Science Centre, the Mennello Museum, and the Orlando Repertory Theatre. It is also home to the Ken and Trisha Margeson Theatre which houses 324 seats, the Marilyn and Sig Goldman Theatre which has 118 seats, Studio B that has 70 seats and the Mandell Studio that has 99 seats. So there is a few theatres that will give you a different choices.

In 1997 The Mow Cow Theatre began and was called simple 2. A group of people got together as a group this ranged from actors and directors. Florida critics and audiences took notice whilst they continued to perform. Their work featured on working on quality and simplicity. After a four year period of just renting space from various organisations such as nearby colleges they moved to their permanent residence in down town. As part of the down town community, Mad Cow has built collaborative relationship with local businesses and were rewarded a golden brick award which shows their outstanding contribution to the down town sector, and has been named Best Theatre by Orlando magazine for two years in a row.  It is one of the most respected theatre companies which attracts the area's most talented and gifted actors, designers and directors.

There are loads of other theatre groups that have a say in the down town district of the city and if you were to stay at one of the Orlando vacation rentals, that are within a short distance away.
