Aug. 20, 2010 - PRLog -- Desert Jet, an aircraft charter and management company, announced today that company President and founder Denise Wilson has been named a finalist in Entrepreneur Magazine’s Entrepreneur of 2010 contest amongst entrants pooled from across the country.  Wilson was propelled to the top five in the Emerging Entrepreneur category for building a successful business that positively impacts her industry, community, and employees.  Now through September 10, the business community and public at large can vote online for Wilson to be chosen as the Emerging Entrepreneur of 2010.

Desert Jet has grown over 200% each year since its inception in 2007 and gives back to their community by volunteering the use of their aircraft to various causes such as Angel Flight West and the Special Olympics Airlift.  Some recent missions included the transport of abused dogs rescued from puppy mills in Missouri, flying children to Camp Laurel, a summer camp for children living with HIV and AIDS and flying a group of Special Olympics participants to the National Games in Nebraska.  Desert Jet has also donated their aircraft for use in fundraising auctions benefiting the Boys and Girls Club and other local charities.

“I’m very excited to have been chosen as a finalist”, said Wilson. “I’m also fortunate that the industry I work in, business aviation, has been my passion as well as my profession. I’m proud that my company helps businesses of all sizes be more efficient, productive and competitive – especially in this most challenging economy. I want to continue to grow Desert Jet, so that the business advantages to utilizing the charter services we provide can be realized by an ever-increasing number of companies.”

"Narrowing down the list was challenging," said Amy Cosper, VP/editor in chief at Entrepreneur. "Entrants really wowed us with their ingenuity, thirst for growth and passion for making a difference with their businesses. The entrepreneurial community is stronger than ever, and this contest is about recognizing their collective impact on us -- socially and economically

"Each of the finalists is making a big difference with his or her business, and they represent the innovative entrepreneurs we see in our centers every day," said Tom Crockett, vice president of sales and marketing at Mail Boxes Etc., Inc., franchisor of The UPS Store. "It truly is amazing to see the entrepreneurial community come together and cheer on their own."

The business community and public at large can select Wilson to become the ultimate winner in her category by casting a vote online at http://www.entrepreneur.com/e2010/vote/emerging.php#676.
