According to the report “World Cast Polymers Industry forecasts for 2014 & 2019” available at www.reportbuyer.com/
Additionally, countries such as Brazil, China and India have been building large volumes of modern housing units and non-residential facilities each year to accommodate the needs of their growing populations and because of ongoing economic development. Cast polymers benefit from a high level of durability, low maintenance requirements and the ability to be cast in virtually any shape.
Market penetration of cast polymers varies on a local and regional basis, generally depending on the relative wealth of local consumers and their style preferences, as well as the level of industrialization and the availability of materials.
In 2009, solid surface accounted for approximately two-thirds of global cast polymer sales. Approximately three quarters of solid surface materials were sold in the Asia/Pacific region, where they are low-cost options. Engineered stone is forecast to achieve the most rapid gains through 2014, albeit from a much smaller base. Less expensive but less durable gel-coated composites are forecast to see more modest gains through 2014.
Asia/Pacific region will remain dominant producer
The Asia/Pacific region, the largest market, accounted for two-thirds of global cast polymer sales in 2009.
Advances in this market are primarily driven by China, which itself accounted for 70 percent of the region's cast polymer sales in 2009. Gains stem from residential trends such as the country's ongoing shift toward urbanization and the development of a more modern housing stock, as well as the continued expansion and improvement of non-residential infrastructure. The rapid rise of a local industry will further drive gains.
