Aug. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- Helsinki, Finland - Returnil, a leading provider of Windows security software, today announced that its product Returnil Virtual System has received the VB100 award from Virus Bulletin in the August 2010 comparatives.

Virus Bulletin is a highly-respected specialist publisher in the field of viruses and related malware and is well-known for its independent comparative testing of antivirus products and its VB100 testing certifications.

The test was conducted on the Windows Vista SP2 Business Edition platform and Returnil Virtual System, in its first-ever entry into this prestigious test, successfully detected all WildList viruses with zero false positives. Viruses are generally categorized as "wild" when they are spreading as a result of normal everyday operations and are not yet widely identified by antivirus solutions.

Virus Bulletin tested several different antivirus products for their detection rates, lack of false positives, and speed of scanning on Windows Vista SP2 Business Edition. Returnil Virtual System successfully detected 100 percent of sampled viruses in the wild.

“Returnil has been working towards inclusion in a VB100 comparative review since the first beta version of RVS 2010 was released for public testing. Needless to say, we have been eagerly looking forward to finally getting the VB100 award”, said Fernando Francisco, CEO of Returnil. “Our product had no problems in the WildList or clean sets, and our interesting and unusual, but powerful security solution proved worthy of a VB100 award.”

About Virus Bulletin

Virus Bulletin conducts independent comparative testing of antivirus products. The tests focus on virus detection rates and scanning speed, as well as looking at how each product fares when scanning set files that are known to be clean. In order to display the VB100 logo, an antivirus product must have demonstrated in Virus Bulletin tests that: It detects all viruses currently spreading throughout a diverse user population during both on-demand and on-access scanning; and it generates no "false positives" when scanning a set of clean files. The product must fulfill these criteria in its default state.

Unlike some other similar tests, Virus Bulletin uses the most current WildList available from the WildList Organization in its tests. More information about Virus Bulletin can be found on the website http://www.virusbtn.com.
