*PRLog (Press Release) * – *Aug 12, 2010* – Poor No More newest addition
Poor No More, Inc. People for Brookdale, and The WaZoo! Show, Inc. are pleased to introduce Kai Mariah to the film community.
Kai Mariah, a 14-year old from Saint Paul, Minnesota, is making a splash in the film and video production world as an up and coming writer/director. Kai joined The WaZoo! Show at the age of nine and has written and/or directed more than a dozen sketches for the show. Several of her sketches have screened at film festivals, including: the Kids in the Biz festival in
Minneapolis, the Shamrock Film Festival in Rosemount, Minnesota, and the Giggleshorts International Comedy Short Film Festival in Toronto, Canada. Because of Kai's work, The WaZoo! Show added a youth mentoring program, for which Kai is a mentor for younger directors.
Poor No More supports youth in film so adding The WaZoo! Show as a new partner providing kids programming is very exciting. Kai is currently working on a feature length animated film called “Valor's Kids.” In addition to directing the film, Kai is doing the animation herself. Her production staff includes a professional film music composer and a professional symphony orchestra.
When the film is finished in 2010, she intends to submit it to various film festivals worldwide and hopes to have theatrical screenings and DVD distribution.
Kai is on the fast track to a long and promising career in film making. Her energy and innovative ideas will help shape the future of the soon to be film studio in Brooklyn Center. She is working hard to complete her project for submission to The Sundance Film Festival, making her one of the youngest directors ever to submit to Sundance.
Poor No More is looking to release 2 film projects: 1) the story of Brookdale, written by Donald Jackson, as told by many residents and store owners who worked and shopped there in the Brooklyn Center community. 2) Scrooge In-dahood, a Christmas tail from the Charles Dickerson
story, written by Joyce Marrie.
We ask that you support Poor No More,Inc., People for Brookdale, and The Wazoo! Show in these endeavors. Kai’s film project could also use your help and with your contributions and comments.
