Golbey’s music style can be described as contemporary Soul with a twist of Jazz, and she is definitely one of the rising stars within the Neo Soul genre.
Although currently unsigned Louise has achieved a number of major milestones during her short career. Her outstanding performance at Glastonbury on the BBC Introducing stage has resulted in Louise being widely regarded as ‘One to watch.’
Her use of original melodies, infectious hooks and head-nodding rhythms instantly command the listener’s attention. Blessed with a genuinely soulful voice, she sets herself apart from her modern contemporaries and is fast becoming a rising star in the Neo Soul genre.
As well as recording at the famous Maida Vale studios she continues to gain esteemed recognition from various DJ’s and producers. Last year Louise's track Same Old Same Old was Ras Kwame's tip of the week on The Home-grown show (Radio 1Xtra) and subsequently Louise's tracks have been played regularly on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, 6Music, Jazz FM and Colourful Radio.
The gig will take place at the renowned Jazz Club Ronnie Scott’s in the upstairs area ‘Ronnie’s Bar’ as part of the ‘Ruby Sings’ event. This is a night dedicated to showcasing the skills of unsigned artists and musicians from across the city. For both industry types and the general public it provides “Great live music, coupled with the best cocktails in London!” Entry costs £5 from 6pm until 8.30pm and £7 thereafter.
Louise’s voice is utterly distinctive and her eclectic mix of genres is totally reflective of her personality and quirky style.
With her unique freshness and notable British style Louise is an incredible artist to see live and we can certainly expect a lot from Louise in the near future.
