Cell Phones For Soldiers At Rockenbach Chevrolet

Aug. 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Chicago Land Chevrolet Dealer – Rockenbach Chevrolet in conjuntion with Chevrolet is launching a year-long campaign, with the goal of raising $1 million to support Cell Phones for Soldiers. To reach that goal, Rockenbach Chevrolet and General Motors  is calling on employees, NASCAR race fans, and the loacal dealer like Rockenbach Chevrolet and other dealers across the country to donate their unwanted, gently used cell phones to the cause.

Cell Phones for Soldiers will recycle the cell phones, and use the proceeds to provide pre-paid calling cards and cell phones to troops serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.”We feel Cell Phones for Soldiers is a worthy cause that fits well with Chevrolet’s long-standing commitment to support the men and women serving our country,” said Mark Degnan, Rockenbach Chevrolet and General Motors director of Local Advertising and Marketing. “Personally, with a brother and a nephew in active duty in Iraq, I know how important every call home can be for soldiers overseas, and their families at home.

Cell Phones for Soldiers recently announced a new campaign to offer free cell phones to all armed forces returning from service in Iraq and Afghanistan. Cell Phones for Soldiers was founded by teenagers Robbie and Brittany Bergquist from Norwell, Mass., To date, they have provided more than 60 million minutes of free calling cards through a national network of individual and corporate supporters and have the registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has raised millions of dollars in donations and distributed millions of prepaid calling cards to soldiers serving overseas.
