Qtel revenues up 13.7% in Q210

Aug. 16, 2010 - PRLog -- Qatar Telecom, the Gulf Arab state’s largest operator, announced yesterday results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2010. During this quarter, the company has reported revenue of QAR13.1bn (US$3.6bn), an increase of 13.7% compared to QAR 11.5bn (US$3.2bn) for the same period last year. Qtel has also reported a 9% rise in its first half net profit to QR 1.78bn compared to the second quarter last year.

Total customers at the end of the second quarter this year stood at 66.6 million, an increase of 29, 6% compared to 51.4 million subscribers a year ago. This growth was mainly driven by Qtel’s Indonesian division, Indosat, which saw subscriber growth of 34% in the first half to 38.5 million users.

According to Nasser Marafih, Qtel Group CEO, the company is pleased about the quarterly performance which shows that Qtel is capable of driving progress in competitive markets. Nasser Mafarih also said that he particularly enjoys good results in Qatar and the important progress in Kuwait, where decisive efforts to maintain market share are yielding results.
