Students are catching on to textbook rentals. Many of the schools now offer textbook rentals along with a number of online locations like Chegg, CampusBookRentals and others. In the past the choices for buying textbooks was new or used. To navigate through the dozens of online textbook seller’s students have turned to price comparison sites like Cheap-Textbooks.com to get a simple report of everyone’s lowest prices. “What use to be an easy task of visiting a couple of websites has broadened out to require students to visit over a dozen sites for used textbooks and then to visit just as many for rental textbooks”; says Bob Jones, founder of Cheap-Textbooks.com. “Students seeking the lowest price on a textbook have so many online sites to visit that the task becomes very time consuming. Students who do not use a price comparison aid will find themselves overpaying for their textbooks simply because they did not find the lowest source.” Mr. Jones explains.
The site was recently expanded with the addition of more textbook rental, eBook and used textbook sellers’ information. This permits students to see the cheapest new, used, eBook, rental and even international version prices in a single report, simplifying the comparison process. Students are using the expanded sites in record numbers. Some users have requested a scaled down price comparison tool that just reports rental pricing. This has resulted in the launching of a site that just polls the textbook rental companies and reports the lowest rental prices. The site also report on the shipping costs and discount coupons available so the complete textbook rental cost can be used for comparisons. The new site can be found at http://www.Cheap-
Textbook rentals have become an important part of the textbook acquisition choices. For the first time Cheap-Textbooks.com is reporting that a textbook rental company has become one of the top five low price sites based on total order volume. “With the popularity of textbook rentals I was not surprised to see a textbook rental site among the leaders. What did surprise me was it was not the rental company receiving all the press but another site that was winning customers with even lower prices for textbook rentals” Mr. Jones reported. “Without our textbook price comparison service students would probably not have known about the lower rental rates offered by this site.” Students now have two choices: for a report on the cheapest prices from all sources go to http://www.Cheap-
