'Larry' the lupus stuntman visits The Gold Coast
A man has risked injury to jump twenty-one stories to raise awareness for a disease on Australia's Gold Coast.
Known only as Larry, the foreigner travels extensively performing stunts to raise awareness for those suffering from lupus. In an attempt that is believed to be a first in Australia, a total of twenty-one stories were cleared without incident at the popular Australia tourist precinct of Surfers Paradise recently.
The editor of the online publication, The Lupus Magazine, has defended the actions of the attention seeker.
“At no time was a member of the public at risk. All precautions were observed and I personally think this is a marvellous effort from Larry. When was the last time you read about lupus here on The Gold Coast?”
Asked if the man had gained approval from various authorities before attempting the stunt, Thomas was unsure.
“I don’t think so… The guy just turned up and did his stuff. He didn’t want to deal with all the paper work and officialdom. He just wanted to put lupus on the map.”
No authorities were aware of any incidents or received any complaints regarding the early morning stunt.
Thomas added, “It’s usually only the do-gooders who whinge about these things. Some people have nothing better to do. Here’s a guy risking his own well-being to help others. That’s something I applaud rather than criticise.”
It is believed the foreign dare-devil is now working on other stunts in Australia and those set in other countries to raise lupus awareness.
Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease that can affect various parts of the body, especially the skin, joints, blood, and kidneys.
