“Oh dear what have we here?” The blossom said in an irritated voice. “We shall pass quickly, that is all that we want.” Ragnar said but knew she would not agree. “Pass quickly you may but she, must stay behind.” The blossom said as her long slender glowing finger pointed at Amethyst. Ragnar rolled his head to either side of his shoulders, cracking his neck to insure his body was loose for what was about to come. Amethyst slightly shrugged her shoulders centering the bow to her back, a bit tighter than before. “Lativa you and I both know I will not leave her behind.” Ragnar said in a ragged voice. “Oh ok. I am feeling a bit generous this night. I will give you a ten second head start.” The Lativa waved them past and the sound of her laughter spilled into the night. Ragnar grabbed Amethyst’s wrist and yanked her to him and pushed her in front, shoving her in the back. “Run!” If there was something to be known about Amethyst, it was that she hated to be given orders. She curled her top lip up at him in a silent but fiery growl, “Stop pushing!” She spat out at him. Her hand barely brushed a blossom and blue electric sparks flew up into the air. One spark set off another, to another blossom and her eyes grew enormous. The whole field was teaming with Lativa blossoms, shooting off sparks of electricity. It had turned into a beautiful unforgiving lightning field. As Amethyst started running through the field the hum of the power could be heard. “Ten seconds isn’t what it used to be!” Ragnar yelled back to the floating Lativa as he ran right on Amethyst’s heels. “Did I say ten? Forgive me I meant two.” The Lativa sent a blue current through the air sizzling at the ends of Amethyst hair as it flew behind her. Ragnar could see the blue power playing at the ends of her hair in the wind and started swearing silently. You just couldn’t trust a blossom these days! As they ran, blossoms rose up off their stems and threw sparking blue bolts at them. They were able to dodge the currents for the most part, they felt alive and on edge as they ran, making them only run faster. The field’s edge was in sight, the darkness laid not that far ahead of them. There was a loud crackling hum that popped behind them and Ragnar saw Amethyst lurch forward and then start to fall to the ground. The bow on her back shimmered and sparked with blue currents that crawled up her black hair and she was swearing loudly as she was falling. Ragnar never missed a step; grabbing her by the back of her bow he lifted her feet off the ground before she fell. Her bow was burning his hand with such intense heat he could hardly stand it. He hit the edge of the field with great relief and dropped Amethyst to the ground. He turned around with his arms wide, hands open and palms up, “I hope you feel a harsh winter that makes you shiver to your roots!” Amethyst saw the blue blast coming from all directions and the laughter behind it as the bolt hit Ragnar in the chest. Ragnar opened his eyes when Amethyst smacked him firmly in the cheek. He looked shocked, in more than one way. Amethyst grabbed his forearm and helped him stand but he could hear her laughing at him. “What is so damned funny?” He questioned her. “Your hair. It is standing up a little.” She stopped and was holding her stomach laughing doubled over. “And it tis smoking” she choked out between laughs.
