Aug. 13, 2010 - PRLog -- Sir Richard Branson has another of his wild dreams nearing reality.

Virgin Galactic reports it is hoping to fly tourists on suborbital flights for the first time and has already tested its spacecraft, with a crew.

Throughout a six-hour flight over California's Mojave desert, the craft remained attached to a specially designed airplane.

The company congratulated the crew on its website, and said "Objectives achieved." It says the two crew members evaluated all of the spaceship's functions and systems.

Virgin Galactic says the flight test program will run through 2011, before it commences commercial operations.

Branson realized his underwater dream in 2009, when his plans were unveiled for the Necker Nymph. Its three bubble cockpit allows the occupants a panoramic view of the surrounding underwater area. It sports steering which is similar to that used on some jet fighters – a joystick.

Branson plans to add the Nymph to his privately owned Necker Island, in the Caribbean. He will offer the use of his underwater plane to guests, for a mere $25,000 a week.

Branson’s next goal is to create a pressurized model of the Nymph, which will have the capability of travelling to depths of 11,000 metres. He wishes to chart the untraveled depths of the Marianna Trench, in the Pacific.

His Virgin companies extend around the globe, while his longing for brand domination and sense of adventure tell a story of a fascinating and thought-provoking life, sprayed with danger, and high risk tactics, which push the boundaries of the feasible.

Since a young man Branson, the billionaire, has followed an all embracing purpose that he constructed upon change and fairness. Add to this combination a charismatic persona and an extraordinary business acumen and you have one of the most famous and iconic men of today’s business world.

Branson has always, operated outside his comfort zone, challenging his own discipline, expertise and resolve. When problems arise he not only tackles them immediately, but head on and aggressively. He has always been open to change, as he searched for fresh opportunities, turning everything into a game.
