SingTel Group revenues up 12% in Q210

Aug. 12, 2010 - PRLog -- SingTel, the leading mobile operator in Singapore with foot prints in many other countries, announced today its financial results for the half-year, ending 30 June, 2010.In the second quarter of 2010, the group revenues increased by 12% to S$4.3 billion compared to the same period last year, the net profit was stable at S$943 million. This positive performance was mainly due to a higher contribution from the group’s subsidiaries in Singapore and Australia.

The Singapore Business reported strong revenue growth of 9.9% for the first quarter ended 30 June 2010, driven by continued momentum in Mobile Communications and a full quarter of fiber rollout revenue. SingTel continues to lead the mobile market in Singapore with 3.11 million customers and a market share of 44.4% as of 30 June 2010, the total mobile customer base increased by 4.1% – an addition of 122 000 – compared to the same period last year.

It’s also worth mentioning that the 3G market is expanding very quickly in Singapore; the continued demand for smartphones bundled with innovative price plans drove strong net additions of 41,000 for 3G mobile services during this last three months.

On the other hand, the Australian subsidiary, Optus, reported net profit growth of 22% to A$170 million. Customer growth and ARPU improvement delivered outgoing service revenue growth of 11%. Optus added 190,000 new mobile customers in the quarter. The number of 3G subscribers increased to 4.17 million, a 16% increase compared to a quarter ago. This included a base of 994,000 wireless broadband subscribers.
