Sustainable Construction's (SCSI) Award winning Project to be featured in the Newton Green home tour

Aug. 12, 2010 - PRLog -- Green Decade/Newton will host its annual Sustainable House Tour on Saturday, October 2. The program is intended to be educational, inspiring, and fun. The tour will visit two or three Newton homes and will last approximately three hours. One or more professionals and/or homeowners will present the sustainable features in each home and will also provide ideas on making your own home more sustainable. We expect our speakers to include a renowned architect, a green builder, an energy efficiency expert, and a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional.  Our properties will include a 1912 Arts and Crafts house which was retrofitted to take advantage of current energy efficiency technologies and a newly constructed luxury condominium which features a subterranean geothermal heating and cooling system, is outfitted for solar panels, and which was designed to take advantage of many sustainable features such as natural ventilation and daylighting.
Tickets are $15 in advance, and $20 if purchased on the day of the tour. We will meet at the Newton Community Service Center on Waltham Street and car pool to Tour sites. If you are interested in the tour or have any questions, please contact Ed Cunningham at ed.f.cunningham@gmail.com.
