Christine Occhino sings 10-11pm with band & DJ Alkan 9:30pm-2am at Allston’s Harpers Ferry 8/27

Aug. 10, 2010 - PRLog -- The audience at Harpers Ferry Nightclub, 158 Brighton Avenue in Allston, MA, will be treated to triple the entertainment on Friday, August 27, 2010, from 9:30 pm to 2 am, with a night featuring the powerful and soulful voice of headliner Christine Occhino (10:00-11:00 pm) backed by a live band including Nozomi Yamaguchi on guitar, Dann J. Henry on drums, Bobby "Booshae" Etienne on bass, Kenny Redding Jr. on piano along with DJ Alkan’s electro music and urban beats and tracks. $15 tickets for the event, including a glow stick party “Internationals do it Better” theme can be purchased online at AlkanEvents or at the door (doors open 9:00 pm).  Harpers Ferry is a popular music venue known for hosting national tours and regional acts like Fall Out Boy, Maroon 5, Bo Diddley, Sister Hazel and more.
   Music industry professionals say Christine Occhino is “a favorite among audiences” and “exciting to watch and listen to,” a “passionate” singer who performs the latest pop, urban, R&B, and rock favorites. A singer/songwriter, dancer, and actor, Christine has performed with bands and dance troupes as well as appeared on TV, videos, film, print ads, and musicals in New York, Connecticut, and Boston venues. Christine has recorded vocals for pop, rock, and hip hop demos and written lyrics, music, and vocal arrangements for artists. She is currently recording an original EP slated for release on iTunes by early 2011. Christine attends the prestigious Berklee College of Music where she was awarded a scholarship to study vocal performance and music business.    Christine will be accompanied by a band including lead guitar player Nozomi Yamaguchi. Nozomi recently produced an album for Rambling Records, entitled "Jazzin' R&B -90's selection to be released on September 1, 2010. A member of the groups "6figures" and "Dar and Stars," he has performed at the Bluenote in New York City. Combining his talents in performing and producing tracks, he joined Ski Beatz's Cream of the Planet (featuring Mos Def) as a guitarist and a recording engineer. Born and raised in Japan, Nozomi has been playing guitar for 13 years and holds a professional music degree from Berklee College of Music. He has performed with Marcus Miller, Elizabeth Withers, Walter Beasley, Terri Lyne Carrington, Ra-Re Valverde (background vocalist for Rahsaan Peterson), Trina, and John Blackwell just to name a few.
   The band’s drummer, Dann J. Henry, has had the honor of playing with prominent music superstars such as singer/songwriter John Mayer, and drummer John Blackwell (known for playing with Prince, Justin Timberlake, Patti Labelle, P Diddy, and Charlie Singleton among others). A Boston native, Dann has been drumming since the ripe age of 4. After attending Berklee College of Music, he pursued a career in music production and is currently writing original songs and working on several music projects.
   Keyboardist Kenneth Redding Jr. is currently attending Berklee College of Music and aspires to be a producer, arranger, songwriter, and musician. In addition to playing piano as a primary instrument, Kenneth is also versed in other instruments and has traveled around U.S. performing a musician, songwriter, and arranger in a variety of music genres. Born and raised in LaGrange, Ga., Kenneth acquired his musical inspiration from church and listening to his father play and direct choirs.
   Turkish born Alkan Aydin (aka DJ Alkan) has established a devoted fan base by playing at nightclubs around Boston under the party theme “Internationals Do it Better.”  Alkan is working on soon-to-be-released original beats and tracks and is developing music for local artists. With a degree in sound engineering and media technology, Alkan’s electro music has become a favorite of Boston’s international community and the house/club music scene.
