Classic car raffle benefits future of children with special needs

Park Lawn and Seguin Services hold raffle for the “Building Bridges for the Future” Program helping students with special needs into adulthood.

PRLog - Aug. 17, 2010 - OAK LAWN, Ill. -- As students are starting up school, Park Lawn and Seguin Services are thinking about the future of special needs students by holding a Classic Car Raffle to benefit the "Building Bridges to the Future" Program.

First prize for the “Building Bridges to the Future” Car Raffle is a fully restored 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible with red luxury interior, a white convertible top and a 289 v-8 engine.  

Winners of second prize will receive a Rolex Explorer II 40 mm steel watch for men valued at $5,000; third prize is $2,500 cash; fourth prize is a Shibumi X-24 mixed media artwork by John Baughman valued at $1,600; and fifth prize is $1,000 cash.

Tickets cost $50 each and may be purchased by visiting www.parklawn.com or www.seguin.org.  Park Lawn can be reached by calling (708) 425-6867 located at 10833 S. LaPorte in Oak Lawn.  Tickets through Seguin Services can be bought by calling (708) 222-5143 or visit their office at 3100 South Central Ave. in Cicero.

The drawing and reception for the “Building Bridges to the Future” Raffle will be held on September 15, at Seguin Gardens & Gifts 5621 W. 31st Street.  Winners need not be present.

The proceeds from the “Building Bridges to the Future” Raffle will benefit the partnership of Seguin Services and Park Lawn.  The Building Bridges for the Future Program helps special education students with developmental disabilities establish and implement transition planning services to ensure their future. This will increase their options and achieve placement into adult services matched with their preferences and needs.  

Local non-profit organization Park Lawn Association provides residential and vocational support through a total of 11 facilities throughout the South Suburbs of Chicago for more than 450 individuals with developmental disabilities.  The mission of Park Lawn is to provide services that promote independence, choice and access to community living for people with developmental disabilities.

Seguin Services is a not-for-profit organization that provides innovative services to adults and children with developmental disabilities and special needs throughout the Chicagoland community so they may live, socialize and work as their neighbors do.  Seguin Services provides community employment, residential housing and life skills classes for adults so that they can experience independent living within their communities.  For children, Seguin Services provides one of Illinois’ leading specialized foster care programs that places them with caring foster parents or in permanent homes regardless of disabilities and medical conditions.
