African Cowboy is a deeply moving tale. It points out that the most important riches we have come from knowledge.

Aug. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- This powerful story about life in Nigeria illustrates the terrible effects of illiteracy and how it must be overcome by education. It is about the Fulani cattle herders of Northern Nigeria, the largest group of cattle herders in the world, who live in the bush and survive without any modern amenities. They also have a high number of illiterates, due to their nomadic way of life.

The richest cattle herder in the community is named Bappa, who marries two women and has two separate families. He abandons his first family, leaving his wife, Demmo, and their two children, Ribado and Halimah, to live in abject poverty. The children fight against all odds to get an education, something taboo in their society and prohibited by many local sects. Eventually their father loses his fortune and is saved by the two children he abandoned years earlier.

African Cowboy is a deeply moving tale. It points out that the most important riches we have come from knowledge.
