Tony Melé electrified the audience with his message to the Bronx Tea Party Committee at their August 6th Organizational meeting. The event was held at the Bronx Conservative Headquarters in Morris Park. When Melé concluded his plan for restoring common sense to the US Congress, frugal management of the public treasury and a return to the principles the framers of the US Constitution intended, a member of the audience stood up and exclaimed: "You should be President!"

In that audience was York Kleinhandler, whose three minute remarks are best summed up by the tired cliché, "There is trouble in River City." Mr. Kleinhandler remained stoic when he was publicly admonished by Mr. Melé for, among other things, attempting to disenfranchise Republican voters with frivolous lawsuits in order to get Melé tossed from the Primary ballot, and employing a smear campaign attacking Melé's military service. "What kind of candidate would begin his campaign with lies, deception and misdirection?  Whose Congressman would he be if he were elected?  Not our Congressman!"

Eliot Engel's Campaign Manager - York Kleinhandler

It is abundantly obvious that the Republican selectee, York Kleinhandler, is running a campaign that looks like they are on Eliot Engel's campaign staff:

--Eleven term incumbent Eliot Engel and back room deal selected Kleinhandler both agree that there should be only one candidate in an unopposed election at any cost;

--They both agree that the 2nd Amendment Right to keep and bear arms should be infringed by the government;

--They both agree that the Federal government should be in the business of disposing of a human fetus;  

--They both agree that the two party system should merge into one amorphous center;

--They both agree that a protracted state of war without a formal declaration of war as required by the US Constitution should continue indefinitely.  

York Kleinhandler recently published his dissertation on the Afghanistan conflict, stating that the real solution is to stop changing Field Commanders because it is like "recreating the wheel."  [Rockland County Times 8/4/10] That viewpoint carries the same impact as if he would respond to the question about the sinking Titanic by saying, "Let's stop rearranging the deck chairs."  With stances like this, Kleinhandler himself is the best evidence of the most clueless candidate on the most important issues of the day that the Republican Chairman, Vincent Reda, has offered us in order to keep a Democratic incumbent in office.
 
Eliot Engel is no better on the Afghanistan issue when HIS solution to the problem is to throw money at it.  That is like drilling a hole in a sinking boat to let the water out of it.

The Maverick Republican With Voter Appeal

With Tea Party support nationwide, maverick Republicans have been sweeping primaries and upsetting elections in every state of the Union.  New York is one of the most problematic states, precisely because of the politics as usual conduct fueling the mass exodus of the electorate carrying these Mavericks into the Republican Primaries. Tony Melé is our next best chance to win the Primary as the trends indicate and defeat 11 term incumbent Eliot Engel.  Tony Melé ran for public office for the very first time in 2007, in a bid for Ramapo Town Supervisor, in a town with a 7 to 1 Democrat to Republican ratio.  In that election he rallied and solidified 9 of 12 village districts that compose the Town, garnering 10,985 votes.  This is the most votes a Republican has ever received in this Democratic majority town in recent memory.  

The Prince That is Loved and Feared

Tony Melé has proven voter appeal and a public record that has always been accountable to the people of the town of Ramapo. He is both well known and revered for his 52 consecutive week run as the host of a radio talk program called the Ramapo Roundtable which spotlighted and predicted the problems confronting the people of Ramapo and beyond.  Tony Melé has Bronx roots in the most diverse communities long abandoned by the Republican Party, solid support in the Yonkers Wards and lower Westchester, as well as motivated voters in Rockland County. Tony Melé is the most electable candidate to unseat Eliot Engel in two decades precisely because he is the Maverick, non establishment candidate who speaks truth to power fearlessly.  Nicolo Machiavelli asked in his book The Prince, "Whether it is better to be loved or feared?"  Machiavelli would be transfixed to find an emerging statesman like Tony Melé who is loved by his supporters and feared by his opponents.

What To Expect Next - Here Come The Smears

Let's employ some intelligent analysis to the Republican Primary coming on September 14th.  The trend of the Campaign most concerned over their weakness to the perceived strength of the opposition is to smear them in order to fool the public and create enough apathy to convince voters to stay home on Election Day.

Anonymous sources report that one result of the "Secret Meeting" at Republican Headquarters last week was determining how to smear Melé enough to help Kleinhandler in the Primary they anticipate is coming.  Here is a sample menu of what that "brain trust" come up with for the Kleinhandler campaign to force feed the Republican Primary voters:

1.   Melé strength: Honesty - Proposal:  Attack his honor
2.   Melé strength: Voter appeal among men-Proposal: Attack his courage
3.   Melé strength: Voter appeal among women-Proposal: Attack his trustworthiness
4.   Melé strength:Professional/Intellectual credentials-Proposal: Attack his veracity

In the coming weeks prior to the Primary election, the Republican rank and file will be bombarded with gossip, rumors, innuendos, bad mouthing, negative ads, and accusations that cover the entire alphabet in an attempt to smear Tony Melé. Their method is to wait a few days before the election when there is not enough time to respond to the voters with the truth. So expect an outlandish personal attack of some type that is aimed to disgust you.  Inoculation comes with expecting it and ignoring it.  Do not let them misdirect you or turn your civic duty into voter apathy; intended to keep you home on Election Day or rob you of your vote.  They will do all they can to manipulate you away from voting for Tony Melé.

Don't fall for it.
