Smart-Azz launchs Pet Tracking Device

Aug. 8, 2010 - PRLog -- Based on existing GPS and mobile phone technology, the new Pet Tracker communicates its position to the owners mobile phone. The tracking device is fitted to a pet collar and worn by pets.

Smart-Azz Product Development Manager, Mr Burt Joubert, said the idea to develop the Pet Tracker came from their customers. “The design uses existing technology from Boat and Car trackers, and the concept is simply an extension of what we already do. The real challenge was developing a Pet Tracker that was small and light enough. Latest battery technology is incorporated in the device” said Joubert.

Losing pets is a problem that plagues pet owners around the world, and finding them is always a challenge according to those in the know. Classifieds in many newspapers carry daily advertisements to help find lost pets, but according to Smart-Azz most other methods are not so reliable.

The Pet Tracker enables owners to locate the exact position of a pet, and to home in on it using their mobile phone’s direction finding software.

Smart-Azz are also targeting the Tracking units at larger animals and stock herds. In many regions stock herds are tracked using light aircraft, and the Pet Tracker is hoped to provide a more cost effective means over the long run.
