Mediation Plus today introduced a new online mediation service delivered through its SettlebyEmail.com website. As the website name implies, this dispute resolution service helps people to settle their dispute by email with the assistance of a neutral mediator. Online mediation can be used to resolve workplace, divorce, family, business and personal disputes. The introductory fee for this new service is $100 per party.
“Up until now,” explains Giuseppe Leone, founder of Mediation Plus, “when two people had a conflict and didn’t want to fight in court, they sat down with a neutral mediator. But now that communicating by email is an integral part of their personal and professional life, the whole mediation process can be conducted online. As a result, people can participate in mediation whenever they want and wherever they are. And it makes no difference whether the person they are having a conflict with is a neighbor across the street, a spouse who took the kids and moved to another state, or an internet consultant who lives in another country.”
According to Mr. Leone, who in the last 10 years has mediated online more than 3,000 disputes, online mediation is not only convenient. It also helps people to reach an agreement that is durable. “The beauty of mediation by email is that before the two parties make or accept an offer,” states Mr. Leone, “they have plenty of time (1) to think through their dispute; (2) to consult with the people they trust – family members, friends, colleagues, or even their attorney; and (3) to consider the consequences if they cannot reach an agreement through mediation.”
