Chef Monty Watson of Chef's Catering said the Taste of Washington is a good, creative outlet for chefs like himself. "At a wedding or party, they might pick roast beef and fried chicken. There's not much glamor in mashed potatoes and gravy. "(At the Taste) you can introduce things to the area that you think people will enjoy, and can experiment with food and have fun with it," Watson said.
The event lasted 3 hours and was hosted by the Washington Chamber of Commerce. Chef’s Catering also won for best appetizer for his pork sliders. Watson hopes to win a few more awards at the taste of Peoria in Peoria, IL next week. His special huli huli chicken is sure to get some attention.
