Twist and Shout during Chowderfest's Ameri”clam” Bandstand

The 22nd Annual Chowderfest happening Oct 2 & 3 features music, food and fun for the entire gang; a Saturday shopping extravaganza at Merchant Mart and Sunday Cook Off with unlimited chowder sampling at the Taylor Avenue Ball field in Beach Haven.

Aug. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- The Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce is proud to present 2010 Chowderfest, this award winning festival kicks off its 22nd year beginning with October 2 Merchant Mart. Recognized as the greatest end of season shopping experience at the Jersey Shore, this free event includes children’s entertainment, costumed characters, local food specialties, live music and hundreds of vendors to choose from. October 3 brings on the champions for the Chowder Cook off Classic 11am-5pm Thousands descend to welcome in fall as 19 local restaurants compete for the best red or white chowder. Every ticket holder gets a vote, unlimited sampling, live music, radio station promotions, children’s activities and plenty of action.

This year’s line up includes: The Sandpiper, Panzones’, Chicken and the Egg, California Grill, Greenhouse Café, Mud City, Howard’s, Country Kettle, Buck Tavern (entered in both red and white) and TGIF for white chowder competitors. The Red includes Stefano’s, Bistro 14, Sweet Jenny’s Black Whale,Sea Oaks, Joeys, Dock Road Crab Shack and the Beachside Shore Café. Joining the crowd once again this year is Ed Hitzel, Restaurant Critic, publisher and broadcaster and his crew of professional judges. Ed who will once again award the coveted Critic’s Choice Award to one red and white contestant brings in some top culinary talent with this nomination. Every vote counts, sample the best of the shore and enjoy this one of a kind event happening at the Taylor Avenue Ballfield in Beach Haven. Adult tickets are $20/Children 12 and under $10/and VIP Tickets including Taster T Shirt and 10am entry for early sampling $50.
