MEI Selects Castillo Consulting Services to Provide Marketing Support to Eight Entrepreneurs

Aug. 6, 2010 - PRLog -- MILWAUKEE, August 6, 2010 - The Multicultural Entrepreneurial Institute, Incorporated (MEI) has selected Castillo Consulting Services (CCS), LLC to provide Marketing and Public Relations support to eight of its 25 recent graduates of their six month business plan training curriculum.  CCS will provide support to help launch these new businesses with various support such as press release creation, website and collateral copy development, social media education and support, as well as create each business with an extensive Marketing Calendar to ensure their success for years ahead.

MEI was selected by the Social Development Commission (SDC) to conduct a Small Business Entrepreneurial Program for 25 low income entrepreneurs and emerging enterprises in Milwaukee County. The initiative was funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and it was the largest award provided by SDC under the Act.  

MEI Principle, Nelson Soler, states “Our (MEI and CCS) strategic alliance allows us to further the mission of the SDC project to help low-income and urban minorities in the marketplace”.  Castillo Consulting Services has been assisting small business owners with Public Relations and Marketing support for over five years and is owned by Christopher M. Castillo, originally from Racine, WI.

“I have been working with Nelson (Soler) for over five years” states Christopher Castillo, “I felt honored that he (Soler) asked me to help out some of the new graduates of the MEI SDC program. I can’t think of a better way to help our local economy than to assist a group of hard working, low-income, entrepreneurs with the promoting of their new businesses”.

The training programs created under the MEI SDC project aim at strengthening the success of low income entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs in Milwaukee County. The addidtional Marketing and Public Relations support will ensure that these enterprises have a successful launch into Milwaukee’s local economy.

As the Community Action Agency for Milwaukee County since 1964, the CR-SDC is a recipient of Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) funding.  Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) program funds are contracted by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (USDHHS) to reduce poverty, revitalize low-income communities and empower low-income individuals and families to become self-sufficient.
