Miami Coalition For The Homeless Announces 2010 Officers And Board Members

Aug. 4, 2010 - PRLog -- Pauline Clarke-Trotman was elected as the 2010 President of the Miami Coalition for the Homeless (www.miamihomeless.org), a volunteer led non-profit organization whose mission is to prevent and end homelessness in Miami-Dade County.  “As the 2010 President of the Miami Coalition for the Homeless, I will have the opportunity to continue to serve the ever increasing numbers of individuals and families who are at risk of becoming homeless as well as those who are currently homeless”, said Ms. Clarke-Trotman.

As a formerly homeless person herself, she has a unique perspective regarding policy, advocacy and social services as they impact the homeless and those at risk of homelessness in our community.  Ms. Clarke-Trotman is the Director of Permanent Housing at Better Way of Miami and has held volunteer leadership positions at key agencies including the Homeless Trust, the Homeless/Formerly Homeless Forum and the Community Action Agency.

The Miami Coalition for the Homeless also elected as Vice President, Luther Brewster, Assistant Professor of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at Florida International University; as Secretary, Jason Pittman, Executive Director of Touching Miami with Love, and as Treasurer, Judge Jeffrey Rosinek (retired), 11th Circuit Court, State of Florida.  Arthur J. Rosenberg of Florida Legal Services will serve as Immediate Past President having served 5 consecutive years as the coalitions President.

Newly elected to the 2010 Board of Directors are Monica Vigues-Pitan, Michael Cox and Nestor Caballero who join returning Board members Yvonne G. Grassie, Barbara Junge and Linda Whitehead.

The Miami Coalition for the Homeless (www.miamihomeless.org) was founded in 1987 to promote community efforts to prevent and end homelessness in South Florida.  The Coalition was instrumental in the creation of the Homeless Providers Forum, the Miami Supportive Housing Corporation and is a founding member of the Miami-Dade County Homeless Trust.
