About Lauri Stallings and gloATL:
Lauri Stallings is the creative lead for gloATL, a collaborative platform of contemporary artists, founded in fall 2009.  The forum incubates original work through live performance, public intervention, and a choreographic lab.  The work often reflects a genuine approach toward negotiating with space, objects and people in order for a dynamic of roaming to occur.  The choreographic language—a breadth of fresh movement extracting classical elements with the complexity and groove of today’s rhythmic culture— creates emotional, physical, and entertaining bridges through the universality of gesture and essence of being.
Stallings performed with renowned Hubbard St. Dance Chicago for five years. In just four seasons, she has comprised a substantial body of choreographic works. Commissions include American Ballet Theatre, Ballet Augsburg, Hubbard St., Julliard, Jacob's Pillow, and Atlanta Ballet, where she served as Resident Choreographer for 3 seasons.  She has garnered recognition for her work, including Chicagoan of the Year, Dance Magazines "25 to Watch," Driehaus and Cheney Grants, and a nominee for the Benois de la Danse, the dance worlds' highest honor, for her choreography in "big," a full length creation with Big Boi of OUtKast. Most recently Stallings is a recipient of a Bogliasco Fellowship, in Genoa, Italy, to laboratory global migration and its influences in world culture.
