ICE trading arm implements accounting system for improved control

Aug. 2, 2010 - PRLog -- dhc, provider of integrated software solutions today announces that Thomas Telford Ltd, the commercial arm of The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), is now using Access Dimensions financial management and accounting software with dhc iConnekt Stock Order Processing. The implementation will improve system control and functionality for the organisation.

Thomas Telford currently has 150 employees across two sites, but with operations rapidly increasing, its previous accounting system provided by an alternative vendor was proving inflexible. Its investment in Access Dimensions and dhc iConnekt reflects the organisation’s fundamental need for efficient IT systems that can easily be scaled up as it grows.

Thomas Telford’s Financial Controller, Bruce Walsh says, “Although we had a good system in place for managing our accounting, its limitations were beginning to affect workflow and reporting. We required an accounting system with the extra functionality that would help us to become more time and cost effective.  We also needed a system that could integrate with our various operating systems to make for efficient, accurate transfer of transactions and better reporting.”

Using flexible and easy-to-use workflow configurations alongside process controls via a web browser, dhc iConnekt delivers a range of fully integrated modules to enable employees at Thomas Telford to enter and view details instantly. Integrating seamlessly with Access Dimensions, iConnekt allows company-wide access to up-to-date account information.

“We’re hugely satisfied with the new system; the implementation from dhc was well planned and was very thorough,” explains Walsh. “Our old programme was efficient in many ways but the new software is a much better electronic facing system that means these workflows we wanted are already embedded in the system and not just a bolt-on. dhc’s software has also significantly improved the reporting qualities of the system due to the fact that we can now select specific data streams for viewing, making the task at hand easier and more efficient.”

“We’re delighted to be working with Thomas Telford to help transform its IT strategy,” says dhc’s Director, Matt Garman. “A project such as this gives us and Thomas Telford the opportunity to explore the scope and flexibility of the products to create a system that not only complements its current operation, but is also capable of providing the support it needs in the future.”
