The President stepped out of the Volt exclaiming ”Pretty smooth” and said to the GM plant workers “ You are producing the cars of the future right here, producing cars that are going to reduce our dependence on foreign oil”. Although the president does not do much driving lately he felt it important enough to show himself at the wheel of the GM Volt. Thus, he sent a loud and clear signal, not just to celebrities, dignities and the rich and famous, but more importantly to the whole world, that going EV is the “cool” thing to do.
Much credit is due the commander in chief for GM revival and his leadership for the momentum we see in EV and Battery developments. President Obama has been doing a lot lately to promote alternative energy, a smart grid and Electric Vehicle EV to Grid (EV2G) technology adoption. Will it come a time when he will demand that the White House fleet be electrified?
On a more realistic note I would not mind seeing the President at the wheel of a pure, 100%, full EV super cool electric machine: the Lightning GTS. After all it is the best car with the best battery: Altairnano’s bullet proof Nanosafe.
So it is official. The “in” thing now for notoriety is to become more EVzBLE and by the same token be seen as “cool”. Expect Hollywood to follow suite. We will have more EV in the movies and in the streets driven by famous actors, singers, TV broadcasters and the rich and famous……..first, before the mass catches on.
And when they do, it will be nothing short of a full blown EV-Revolution. We have seen it with the computer and Dot Com phenomenon. We have seen it with the Cell Phone and Ipod. Now, at the dawn of the EV Decade, it is not only “cool” to be Evzble, it makes a lot of “green“ sense to seize the huge opportunity that exists in EV domains. It always start with an idea…then a name…then a brand…
