When considering an undergraduate course in the art of Chinese medicine and traditional acupuncture; many prospective students enquire as to what ailments Chinese medicine can treat and how. The London College of Traditional Acupuncture explains how traditional Chinese acupuncture can help a variety of aches, pains and health issues the natural way, without separating mind from body.

Traditional Chinese medicine practitioners look further than simple ailments; during consultation, the doctor takes in a patient’s lifestyle and emotional state in addition to the physical problems before deciding on which course of treatment to take. Herbal medicine can be used to help cure some skin conditions such as severe acne or itchy eczema, various herbal treatments have also been known to help with menopausal and pre-menstrual symptoms in women.

Traditional acupuncture is on the of the most commonly used forms of traditional Chinese medicine, and can be used to help relieve joint pain such as arthritis and has proven particularly effective for helping with common pregnancy issues. Acupuncture has show a high success rate for helping babies into the breach position during the late stages of pregnancy, as well as encouraging overdue babies before induction is considered. A mixture of traditional acupuncture and herbal medicine is also recommended as a treatment for infertility or sterility, helping to establish hormone balance and regulating the menstrual cycle.

“Many beginners in the art of Chinese medicine are unaware of how widespread the TCM treatments are and that for many sufferers it can be a more natural option to surgery or over the counter medication” explains marketing manager Carly Lewis. “From small irritations such as pre-menstrual symptoms right through to severe migraines and neurological conditions, an element of TCM can help in the healing process”.
