24 Year Old Fighting Cancer For The Third Time Now Needs Help

July 31, 2010 - PRLog -- Keller, TX - Rachel Hunnicut was a 14 year old high school sophomore in Keller, Texas, when her doctor told her that she had acute lymphoblastic leukemia. That same day, she had her biopsy, and began the first of many chemotherapy treatments.

Between treatments, Rachel finished high school and started working at a local bank. In 2004, she graduated with honors, shortly after getting a clean bill of health from the doctors. She got married, had a beautiful daughter, and got on with her life. Her cancer was in clinical remission for seven years, then relapsed about two years ago, and the nightmare began again.

She thought she had beat the cancer again, but it persisted. Now her doctors tell her that a bone marrow transplant is her only remaining option. Although Rachel still has insurance, her co-payment is way out of the reach of a family that has already dealt with years of costly medical treatments. Her portion of the cost for the bone marrow transplant is $80,000. She doesn’t have it, so friends from all around the world are working together to help her raise the funds to go ahead with the operation that is tentatively scheduled for early August, 2010.

Friends of the family have put up a website, entitled Got-Marrow.org http://www.got-marrow.org/. Donations can be made to the Rachel Hunnicutt-Knight fund by Paypal or credit card, and messages of encouragement and support can be left, as well.
